Paige + Blake + Buster Portraits with Kara Rush

Thursday, January 13, 2011

In Mid-December we took some time and hung out with our friend and colleague, Kara Rush. She is an uber-talented photographer and an awesome-tastic lady.

Check out some of the images below, then head to her blog to see some more!

We are so grateful for these last images. Anyone who knows our Buster, knows he loved to run and play. And no matter how hard we tried to block up his "escape" routes to the front yard he just kept digging under the fence to play out there. He liked getting out, but he loved being with us as much as we loved being with him. On January 3rd, he dug out again and was hit by a car. Kara found out from one of our neighbors and called us.  We found him and rushed to the vet, but he was gone by the time we got there. We were able to hold him in the car, call his name and he looked up one last time to see his friends. It was a horrible day, but we have been truly touched by the outpouring of love from family and friends. He was more than just a family pet. If you follow us on twitter or on facebook, you'll know he's our friend, Paige's shadow and my buddy.
Thank you, Kara, for these images. Truly.

This video was shot about 4 months ago. I was playing with Blake's new camera. Its the best video we have of Buster. I can't get over what an incredibly awesome, adorable, and loving puppy he was... I miss you, my little love.

In My Bag: a summary of Paige

Monday, August 02, 2010

So….
I thought I'd share a bit of me.
allow me to introduce...

1. My Purse.
I love my bag. Seriously, I have a major "purse" fetish, but this has to be my favorite bag ever. I found Fantella on Etsy, and asked her if she could make a lips/mustache bag (my most recent obsession since we started our Photo+Booth). She well surpassed my expectations. I love the hobo style and the double snaps. the tiny pocket inside and the fact that this bag is absolutely ONE OF A KIND!

2. My Wallet
Another fabulous Etsy find. (but she has her own store too). I wanted something with our mini logo (P+B) on it. Its personal, and I think of Blake when I see it. :D
I emailed Quiet Doing and she said it was no problem at all! Then after I ordered my bag, I asked if she could slap a stache and some lips on the back so they would match. Again, not a problem. Much like my bag, I was thrilled with the quality of the wallet and the uniqueness that is all mine.

3. My Phone
I know the iPhone is all the rage, but I cannot stand AT&T. I thought I was getting the poor man's iPhone when we went for the HTC Droid, but I was so wrong! I love my phone.
(and yes, that is Buster on the front. Call it puppy love)

4. Mini Notebook
I needed something small to take notes when I meet with clients, but I really don't dig the mini spiral note pad. Paper Pastries to the rescue.

5. Mini Change Purse
As much as I love my wallet, there is very minimal space for change. Wild Mustangs keeps change off the bottom of my rockin' purse and ready to spend when I feel like a jawbreaker or temporary tattoo.

6. Extra Card Wallet
I have so many random membership and business cards I need a place to store them.
The oldest thing in my wallet, I bought this over 5 years ago when I worked at Franklin Covey. They don't make this style anymore, but basically everything that comes from that store is quality. (and yes, that's my PPA membership card)

7. Business Card Wallet
Its so light but carries over 100 business cards. I love it. And I love In Blue. An rad person who make rad thingies. I use the wallet to hold both P+B business cards and the LDS Bride business cards.

8. Um……
Yeah, perhaps its inappropriate to include this, but its a total life save and embarrassment avoider.

9. Vintage Barbie Glasses Case
Bought it HERE. It adds a bit of "Pink" to my bag and makes me feel 7 years old again.

10. Retainer
Yeah… I my braces have been off for less than a year. That means I carry these bad boys with me everywhere I go. (Buster found it one night and chewed the crap out of the corner)

11. Mirror
Gotta have on in your bag! Mine was created by How Nice on Etsy.

12. My Favorite Perfume
Its Sugar Lemon and was purchased at Sephora a few years ago. Its fresh and citrusy. The very best "every day" perfume ever. (they've changed the bottle since I bought mine)

13. MK Makeup
I admit it freely - I adore MaryKay makeup. I wont use anything else. (I even sell it for the 50% discount!)

So that's it! I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my life.

Keeping up with the Sloanses: Thirst Relief Mentor session

Friday, March 19, 2010

Thirst Relief International, who provide safe, clean drinking water to those in need around the world, in association with ShootQ, had their annual Photographer's Mentor Auction earlier this February. Its an awesome event where extremely talented photographers auction off their time, talent, and expertise to bidders hungry for some learnin. (and, of course all proceeds go to Thirst Relief)

We were somehow lucky enough to win time with the extraordinarily talented, Arizona-based couple, Matt and Angie Sloan of Sloan Photographers.

They came down to Orange County to spend a few hours with us. (They supposedly had a "shoot" or something, but we know it was solely for the purpose of hanging out with the Greens)

We went over everything from marketing to shooting, to workflow, to communicating with your partner (like never ever call your partner a brat in the middle of a shoot!).

We even took some time to shoot with the Sloans. (Remember M and B from the Love Bird Wedding?) Here are a few of our favorite shots!

The Sloans in action!

We want to say "Thank you" again to Matt and Angie, who are tons of generous with their advice, encouragement and radness.
(and to M and B for sharing their lovely with us.)

Kacee + Eric's Romantic Ceremony : Orange County Wedding

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Continuing with our SoCal Photog ShootOut extravaganza I'd like to share some images from the beautiful (albeit, mock) cermony, featuring the lovely Kacee Geoffery, and her husband, Eric.

And here is their lovely slideshow

or Click Here

I would, again like to thank all the lovely folks over at Socal PhotogshootOut, who made all the loveliness happen!

(also, we're trying out a new blogging style, what do you think about more images and collages vs. larger, single images? We'd appreciate it if you would leave a comment below with your input!)

A love bird wedding shoot: Orange County Wedding Photographer

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Ok, you know how sometimes you just have ideas in your head and you simply must get then out? Well, for some crazy reason, no one is asking me to plan their wedding!
So, I had to take matters into my own hands (of course) and plan a little wedding shoot with my favorite details. And we did have a lot of fun putting together the details!

The Bride's shoulder wrap was provided by the Etsy shop: RomancingJuliet (as was the Moss and twine ring pillow and wedding cage card box)

the Cake was a prop cake and was created by CaramiaCakes on Etsy and decorated by our amazingly talented florist, Bethany from Splendid Sentiments and Designs, who also created the bouquets and bouts.

The beautiful invitations and programs were created by Sanskrips inc, the fantastically fun little bird pins on the bm's dresses and the gm's suspenders were created by Maisey Handmade, and the felt flower clips in the ladies hair were created by Design du Jour. (all located on Etsy)

Blake and I made the chalk board signs with scrap wood at home depot, chalk board paint, sandpaper and chalk. We also made the ladies' bird rings from supplies purchased at Michael's.

The beautiful hair was done by Marinda Rykowski (who was also one of our bridesmaids) and the flawless makeup was by Kacee Geoffery

and of course, the slideshow

or Click Here

Thank you again to the amazing vendors involved, and to our beautiful models! It was so much work and planning, but it 100% paid off! You guys are amazing and we would absolutely LOVE to work with all of you again ... SOON!
