Blog of the week

Monday, June 29, 2009

This weeks "___" = BLOG

If you are going to read a blog OTHER than ours, I would HIGHLY suggest the Bakerella blog. First, let me explain something: I love to cook. I think I'm pretty good at it too. For the past 3 years I've kept Blake happy and full. Every once in a while, I get a "wow" too. (which I thrive on)
The thing is: I rarely follow recipes. I start with a concept: like chicken. Then I put a little of this on it, a bit of that in it and fry/bake/saute/ broil until its delicious (or that's the game plan, anyway.) but that also may be the reason I am simply horrible at BAKING. Just ask Blake, if its not Break and bake, Paige will find a way to botch it up (he probably would say it nicer b/c hes such a love...but thats what he means in his heart)
Enter: Bakerella- she makes everything seem so possible! Her goodies look amazing and most of all they look FUN. Just take a look at her
Brownie Burger Cupcakes & Cookie Fries

amazing, right? I don't' know about you, but I'm going to try this fun little recipe out (as soon as I have enough people to eat them... so don't' scarf them all by myself!)
Thanks, Bakerella for being so Bake-tastic!!!

Sylvanda the Princess: Orange County Bridal Portraits

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

I love working with talented people! But working with talented AND awesome people is just about the best.
Sylvanda (the *beauty* bride pictured below) was amazing. I am just about dying to photograph her again. She is gorgeous, funny, easy to lead and totally fits anywhere!
The fantabulous bouquet she is carrying is another masterpiece created by Design Whimsy (seriously awesome stuff) and her lovely purple, feather hair piece was created by Maxine In Trousers. (OK, people, if you don't shop on ETSY its time to get -a- purchasing) Anyway, we took the beautiful Sylvanda to Downtown Disney for the shoot. The atmosphere could not have been better. Little ones passing by kept jumping up and down and stage whispering: "look, mommy, a Princess!!!!". I'm sure the gorgeous dress and lovely Sylvanda would be enough to incite young girls to scream "PRINCESS!" but in addition to that, Disney was promoting their new movie, "The Princess and the Frog"
Photobucket
which the Heroin is not only Disney's first AMERICAN princess, but she is also Disney's first princess of African decent. . . needless to say Sylvanda didn't stand a chance against the gawks and glee of the young children passing us in Downtown Disney. This shoot was basically made of awesome:

Another huge "thank you" to the talented artists we were able to work with and to Sylvanda for being her beautimus-lovely self. You guys rock, and we're better for having worked with you.
Seriously, though: how hard is to pick a favorite? I just can't!!! If you want, leave a comment and let us know which image you think is most awesome and why.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Ok, so we are FINALLY getting around to blogging about the rad-tastic Furious Photographers/Bui Brothers Lighting workshop! It was such a cool experience, working with some of the most talented artists in the business and seeing how a small strobe or the right artificial lighting placement can make a great image become pure awesome-ology!

The models totally worked it and the instructors were 100% informative and oh-so cool! (even though the Bui brothers kept calling us "Sony") We are definitely ready to venture into the wide world of strobes!
Thanks for the knowledge and fun. We can't wait for the next one!!!

Emily + Billy : Newport Beach engagement photographer

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

In case you were unaware, we are currently trying to recover from the Blog fail of "09". It was a tragedy where we lost 2 blog posts to the Internet abyss. It was tough times, but we are moving on...
To Emily and Billy: the very attractive, ridiculously fun couple. The session was mainly on and around Balboa Pier on an uber sunny day. These two were 100% natural and beautiful. (I love clients like that!) OK, I say we get right to the goodness!

Photobucket
I was playing with some textures and their cuteness

Photobucket
I adore beach/pier wood. its so weathered and worn.

Blake’s Favorite. (Its a close second for me)

It was so awesome shooting with such a kick-back, go-with-the-flow couple like Emily and Billy! Natural love, loves naturally (it sounds cheeseball, but its true!)
You guys rocked my socks and I can't wait to work with you again!!!
